Breaking news: Mejia Withdraws From United On A Permanent Agreement

Mateo Mejia, who served four and a half years at Manchester United, has completed his permanent transfer to Sevilla.

The 20-year-old joined our academy in 2019 after joining Real Zaragoza, his local team.

Mejia made his Under-20 debut for Colombia in December 2022; however, he is eligible to represent Colombia via his parents despite being born in the northern Spanish city.

Mejia overcame a few hiccups with injuries to become a mainstay for the Under-21 team, making 15 appearances and scoring in games against Leicester City and Arsenal in 2022–2023.

Last summer, he went to the United States with the young team and participated in the friendly match against Wrexham, taking Shola Shoretire’s place for the last few minutes in San Diego.

Mateo, who trained with Erik ten Hag’s first squad, has been a reliable option for Travis Binnion this season. He has made 12 appearances, including three EFL Trophy games, and has scored three goals.

In Andalusia, Mejia will reunite with old junior teammate Hannibal, as the Tunisian international just completed a loan transfer to Sevilla last week.

We will be keenly observing Mateo’s career; therefore, we would want to take this opportunity to wish him all the best in the future.
