Rangers have stated that they will acquire a striker in January, despite widespread rumors suggesting Lawrence Shankland is the top target.
Prior to Dundee, Philippe Clement addressed the media on a variety of subjects. He mentioned that a new striker would be brought in because Tom Lawrence and Danilo are both expected to be sidelined for the duration of the season, if not longer. However, Clement avoided specifically bringing up Shankland without explicitly expressing disinterest in the forward.
Rangers currently only have one starting striker in Cyriel Dessers, who has unhappily not impressed at all. Abdallah Sima is also scoring goals, but he is currently on loan and is primarily utilized on the left wing where Sam Lammers is having a terrible time.
It means Rangers are seriously in the market to sort out the attack, with a proper centre-forward needed.
Shankland was told by Clement:
That’s a really good query! You guys have already written a great deal about that. I will never discuss players in whom we have interest or do not.
I hear that certain people pay close attention to me. I first learned about it in the city at a restaurant. I must carefully consider what I want to do in the future.
I don’t want to find myself in the same predicament as the German national coach—that is, having to take something out of my nose.
Obviously, I need to pay close attention to what I am doing, but I did not find anything particularly noteworthy when I befriended every player of hearts along the way.
