Shea Langeliers has been putting a lot of hits on the Texas Rangers, his home team. Langeliers drove in a career-high five runs and blasted a two-run home run in the first game of a doubleheader. The Oakland Athletics and the Rangers split their Wednesday doubleheader, with him contributing three additional RBIs in Game 2. In the nightcap, Texas prevailed 12-11 despite the A’s 9-4 victory in the opening game. For the Rangers, Jonah Heim and Nathaniel Lowe each had three RBIs. Langeliers had a run-scoring groundout and another two-run home run in the second game. In doing so, he eclipsed Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson’s record of seven RBIs in a doubleheader against Baltimore on August 24, 1969, setting an Oakland record. After analysing his performance, Langeliers said, “That’s insane.” I had a great day seeing the ball. It was just one of those days for me where I came through and helped the club score some runs. I felt like I hit solid pitches with nice swings. He called the day “wild,” highlighting both teams’ impressive offensive efforts. In the second game, Oakland scored four runs in the ninth inning, but Kirby Yates preserved his seventh save by getting Tyler Nevin to pop out to right with two outs and a runner on first.
