The Steelers would like to see an end to the trend of slow starts when playing the Colts.

Both the play-caller and the offensive coordinator have switched. The quarterback has also done so.

But there are still certain shortcomings for the Pittsburgh Steelers, which Mitch Trubisky hopes to address this Saturday in Indianapolis.

Trubisky remarked, “Slow start.” “On third downs, I need to improve.” Got to keep getting on the same page with these guys and perform better. Plays have to improve this week, but there were some stronger ones in the second half.

Whether Trubisky had Matt Canada as his offensive coordinator or not, his season opener started in much the same way that Kenny Pickett’s did.

The Steelers’ first possession resulted in a field goal, but their sixth possession resulted in a touchdown. The Steelers were down 18 points to the New England Patriots, 21–18, before Trubisky hit his touchdown ball to Diontae Johnson.

Five days prior, the Steelers had lost to the Arizona Cardinals 24-10 despite leading by three points in the first half of the game. Despite all of the excitement around the offence during the previous week’s game against Cincinnati, the Steelers managed to win 16-10 despite scoring just three points in the first half.

The Steelers have scored 16 first-half points in their last three games, despite handing play-calling responsibility to Mike Sullivan and interim coordinator Eddie Faulkner. Only two teams are scoring less points at halftime this season than they are in the first thirty minutes, where they are averaging 6.8 points.

The task for the Faulkner-Sullivan tandem is to figure out how to start the offence faster, and one would be helpful when the Steelers take on the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday.

With three games remaining in the regular season, the winner will at least keep their postseason standings. Both teams will enter the game with a 7-6 record.

“We’re trying hard to get better,” Faulkner stated. “Okay, so why didn’t this work?’ we ask ourselves as we enter. Why didn’t it happen? Let’s make the necessary corrections. We’re going to fix it like this.

“We proceed.”

Of course, a step back may mean the end for the Steelers’ postseason dreams.

Runner Najee Harris stated, “We all know it’s an important game to make the playoffs.” “Everyone is aware that we need to focus, carry out our plans, and that every game counts. A tiny bit extra is applied to the notch. We are aware of that.

The Steelers returned to a regular work week, unlike the previous one when they essentially had just one practice day to prepare Trubisky for his first start in place of the injured Kenny Pickett. Trubisky is depending on a full week of preparation to pay off despite the fact that he cannot get a pass for his early-game performance against New England, which included an interception that resulted in a touchdown.

Trubisky also wants to do a better job of guarding the ball than he did in the Patriots’ and Cardinals’ defeats. Against Arizona, Trubisky took Pickett’s position when he was unable to handle a low snap from centre Mason Cole. After recovering, the Cardinals scored a touchdown and took a 17-3 lead in the third quarter. In terms of value, Indianapolis’ defence is ranked No. 25, but they also have one of the best interceptions rates in the league. There are just three teams with more than 13.

The seven-year veteran didn’t like that Trubisky got a few more days to reflect on his flaws.

He added, “You have to pay attention to what’s in front of you.” “Just as you cannot let the previous play to affect the subsequent play, neither can the previous game affect the subsequent game. It’s merely a mindset that lets you go on and go full speed ahead after learning from it.

Note:Outside linebacker Kyron Johnson of the Steelers has been promoted from the practice squad for the third week in a row. He can only be promoted one more this season without being added to the 53-man roster. For the last two weeks, he has only participated in special teams play.
