Kevin Stefanski argued that Myles Garrett was the NFL’s top defensive end this year

Cleveland Browns’ defensive lineman Myles Garrett has emerged as one of the league’s most formidable defensive players thus far this season, but Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski seems to believe Garrett is deserving of the title of NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Despite not having a sack in four straight games, Myles Garrett has been the NFL’s top defensive player this season, according to Kevin Stefanski during a news conference this week.

He refuses to give up and puts the opponent on the ground. “I think our game gets so wrapped up in sacks, he makes a play on a crack toss late in the game that loses 6 yards,” Stefanski stated, according Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. Additionally, people believe that if it’s a sack, it boosts the statistics or something. He wins the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award because of his outstanding defensive play.

He’s going to finish strong for this football team, in my opinion, but it’s crazy how we as a football community get so worked up about sacks—just think about the guy who impacts the game, pressures the quarterback, plays the run, and puts forth incredible effort on the field. There may not be anyone in the same realm as him, in my opinion.

Even if Garrett doesn’t have the stats to support his domination, the fact that opposing offences must plan to stop him demonstrates how vital he is to the Browns. It remains to be seen if it will be sufficient to win him the Defensive Player of the year.
