Shocking: Twins’ Newcomer Faces Struggles due to…

Outfielder Manuel Margot was acquired by the Twins via trade in the summer, but in his debut season with the team, Margot has had difficulty settling in.

The Twins acquired Margot, 29, along with shortstop prospect Rayne Doncon, from the Los Angeles Dodgers in February in exchange for shortstop prospect Noah Miller. Given his history of injuries, he was supposed to be Byron Buxton’s backup center fielder. That position has grown in value.

Austin Martin, a rookie, has been the Twins’ backup center field option instead of him. Margot has probably fallen to #4 on the depth chart behind Martin and Willi Castro after Buxton’s return to the IL. It’s troubling that he can’t even make a contribution in the field, considering that he was brought in as a field specialist.

Shawn Keirsey Jr.

When Buxton was placed on the disabled list last week, Margot was not considered by Twins manager Rocco Baldelli as a replacement, which allowed a guy like DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to advance to the major leagues.

The 26-year-old Keirsey has amassed a.293 batting average, four home runs, and 26 RBIs in 29 games played in Triple-A St. Paul this season. Known for being a quick runner and a strong fielder, it could make sense to give him a shot.
