The Twins suffered a setback on Friday when two important players were placed on the 10-day injury list.
Byron Buxton first went to the IL due to tendinitis in his right knee. Shortly later, the Twins declared that their star reliever Brock Stewart would be placed on the injured list due to tendonitis in his right shoulder.
Prior to giving up a solo home run in Minnesota’s victory over the White Sox earlier this week, Stewart had made 25 straight appearances without giving up a run.
The Twins have summoned lefty Kody Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul, as Stewart will be sidelined for at least ten days.
Even though Stewart’s loss is big, Jorge Alcala’s call-up and Jhoan Duran’s recent comeback should help ease the pain.
