Sad News: United Loses Key Player Due To…

The Champions League winner may be selected by Manchester United this week, with Erik ten Hag likely to start.

If Newport County wins big this weekend in the FA Cup fourth round, Erik ten Hag may be given the opportunity to choose Manchester United’s manager.

Ten Hag is undoubtedly battling for his future when the League Two team plays United at Rodney Parade on Sunday.

After humiliatingly losing in the Champions League group stage, the Red Devils will not be playing any European football in the second half of the campaign.

With just one victory in six games, Ten Hag’s team finished last in Group A, far below FC Copenhagen, Bayern Munich, and Galatasaray.

Newcastle United easily won 3-0 at Old Trafford, ending United’s Carabao Cup defense early as well.

In the meantime, the M16 giants are 16 points behind leaders Liverpool and 11 points outside the top four after 10 victories and 9 losses in 21 Premier League games.

Ten Hag is in severe need of an FA Cup run, with little left to play for in the first few months of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’s takeover of football operations.

However, if United crashes out to Newport in South Wales this weekend, marking the latest low point in an abject season, the Dutchman might not pass his job assessment.

After the season, Ratcliffe and INEOS will surely consider Ten Hag’s future in light of the new athletic organization they intend to implement.

Omar Berrada resigned from his position as chief football operations officer of Manchester City to take on the post of chief executive at United.

After Ratcliffe’s £1.3 billion transaction for a 29% ownership stake in the club is approved by the Premier League, the appointments of a head of recruitment and sports director are anticipated to follow.

The new-look United hierarchy will have to make a significant choice together. Should they choose to make a change, current Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel seems like a good fit.
