Done Deal: United Signs Contract With…

Charmain urges Jim Ratcliffe to sign £100 million player and make him the face of Manchester United

The England striker made a goalscoring return from his eight-month ban recently. However, there remains uncertainty over his future, and Toney himself fueled the fire recently by admitting he’d love to sign for a big club.

Arsenal are among the admirers, as are Tottenham but a January deal is deemed too expensive, with reports of Brentford asking for £100m regularly popping up.

However, while Arsenal would love to land Toney, his former chairman at Peterborough, Darragh MacAnthony, has suggested that the Brentford ace would make the perfect Manchester United striker.

MacAnthony tells Jim Ratcliffe to sign Ivan Toney for Manchester United

Speaking on the latest episode of The Hard Truth podcast, MacAnthony insisted that United and Ratcliffe should be looking to make Toney the new face of their club.

“He’s so underrated. He’s sensational. United spent £60 million on a striker who is 22 this summer. Ivan will end up scoring more goals than him by the end of the season. If Jim Ratcliffe has any sense, they should have already done that deal. Ivan Toney would be the face of the new Manchester United structure, change everything, and probably give them an outside chance of getting into the top four in the second half of the season. What a player,” MacAnthony said.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Toney would be ideal for Arsenal.

However, Ferdinand would not sniff at seeing Toney at United either, given his constant calls for a better player to be signed.

Toney would fly at Old Trafford

MacAnthony makes a good point here, in fairness to him.

United are struggling with a proper number nine, and Ivan Toney would give them that focal point they’re missing.

Crucially, he’d also be able to help bring Rasmus Hojlund along as well. The young striker has been tasked with being the main man this season but isn’t quite up to it yet.

Toney, then, would serve as a huge signing for Manchester United if they fancy splashing out this summer.
