Luke Musgrave of the Packers played despite suffering from a lacerated kidney.
Luke Musgrave, a rookie tight end for the Green Bay Packers, is recuperating nicely from a ruptured kidney. A wound that, amazingly, he managed to play through.
A month has passed since Musgrave’s difficult landing on the ball after he caught a 10-yard pass during the Week 11 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, yet he still managed to finish the game.
According to Packers.com, Musgrave stated, “Not horrible.” I thought there was definitely a problem, but this is all football-related. After the game, the discomfort usually gets worse because you have to play through it.
It didn’t take long for the 23-year-old to realize it was a kidney issue, either.
“When I got home,” he said. “Just blood in the urine.”
He was then advised by the Packers medical staff to go to the emergency room immediately.
“Yeah, it wasn’t awesome,” he said.
Luckily he didn’t need emergency surgery, however.
For now, he’s going to continue listening to the doctors as he hopes to return this season. His goal is to play as soon as possible.
“Internal organs are definitely a little bit different than your normal football injury. But good people, good team, a lot of good stuff to say about the training room. It was good, and I think we’re on the right track.”
