Rasheed Walker is gaining attention as a possible breakout player for the 2024 season, but the Green Bay Packers still have some offensive line concerns to address. A few underappreciated athletes primed for breakthrough seasons were discussed by Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report. Several division opponents, including Jared Goff and Jaquan Brisker, were on the list. But Davenport showed Walker some affection, too. Davenport stated that “[Walker’s] play improved considerably as the campaign wore on.” “Now, Walker leads an offensive line that Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network ranks fifth in the NFL, and he starts the season as the unquestioned starter for a Packers team hoping to make a deep playoff run.” Walker is a player who divides opinion, but in the months preceding training camp, he has received at least one significant vote of confidence. The Road to a Starting Left Tackle for Rasheed Walker Walker wasn’t expected to perform well in the NFL. He has, nevertheless, now gained a great deal of experience playing left tackle for the Packers. In 2018, Walker was a four-star recruit and an All-American in high school. Among his offers were from Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Michigan. Walker, though, continued to play for Penn State on the East Coast. Walker had a strong four-year career for the Nittany Lions, despite never breaking out. Before turning pro, he was selected to the third team of the Big Ten twice in a row, the pinnacle of his career. Walker had to wait far longer than he would have preferred to hear his name called in the NFL Draft, even though he declared for the 2022 edition. In the seventh round, the Packers selected him with the 249th pick. Walker’s NFL aspirations were dampened by that draft choice. But in 2023, when David Bakhtiari was unable to play past Week 1, he finally got his chance. Despite some setbacks in the beginning of the season, Pro Football Focus began to routinely grade him higher. He might have been selected with the final pick in the NFL Draft in 2022. Walker, though, is hoping to make an even greater impression in 2024 now that he has played at least one season as a starting left tackle. Rivalry at Left Tackle Walker might have become more proficient in 2023. He isn’t, however, assured of a starting position going into training camp. Jordan Morgan was selected by the Packers in the first round of the current draft. Despite being somewhat undersized at tackle, Morgan, a three-year starter for Arizona, enters the league with a high athletic profile and excellent movement skills. Morgan might be kicked inside by Green Bay’s coaching staff to guard. But before to training camp, the team has already declared that they will let the first-round selection begin his NFL career at left tackle. Morgan even took some time to respond to those who doubt his ability to play blindside in the NFL. It is well known that the Packers always start their top five linemen. Walker might then move to right tackle as a result. Fans won’t learn more about the circumstances, though, until training camp, when the coaching staff can obtain a complete picture of the scenario.
