Ryan Sanborn, a punter for the Texas Longhorns, was not chosen in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he quickly agreed to terms with the Atlanta Falcons. AUSTIN: The Texas Longhorns had the highest number of players selected in programme history for the modern era—11—in the 2024 NFL Draft. Punter Ryan Sanborn was the only player not to hear his name called in the astonishing virtually full Texas 2024 draft class. On the other hand, after the draft concluded on Saturday, he quickly found a place in the NFL.The Atlanta Falcons have signed Sanborn as an undrafted free agent. This news was revealed by the official X (Twitter) account for Texas football. Now that he has an opportunity, he can make the final 53-man roster and maybe team up with former Texas running back Bijan Robinson, who was a standout rookie for Atlanta last year. 2019 saw Sanborn, a native of San Diego, start his college career at Stanford. Before moving to Texas in the previous offseason, he played for the Cardinals for four seasons. Sanborn had a career total of 232 punts. He had 40 punts for 1,828 yards this past season with the Longhorns, averaging 45.7 yards per punt—the seventh-best single-season average in programme history. He received an Honourable Mention from All-Big 12 after the 2023 season. While at Stanford, Sanborn made eight out of ten field goals; however, he failed to place the ball against Texas. In Texas’ 31-24 victory over Houston in the previous season, he also completed on his one and only career pass, a one-yard completion to kicker Bert Auburn.
