Arsenal is rumored to be exploring their alternatives at left-back, and Mikel Arteta is believed to have taken an interest in one Eredivisie player when Chelsea’s interest cooled. Quilindschy Hartman, a left-back for Feyenoord, is apparently in the sights of Arsenal, but a transfer may not be possible until the following season. Chelsea had shown interest in the 22-year-old back in January, but the player did not want to leave in the middle of the season as he was attempting to earn a berth with the Netherlands team for the European Championships this summer. Prior to needing surgery for a knee injury sustained in March, Hartman was expected to be selected. This will keep him out of the lineup until the next season, and maybe until 2025. It’s predicted that Mikel Arteta will hunt for a new left-back this season to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Telegraph claims that because of Hartman’s contribution to Feyenoord’s league title win the previous season and his sustained form until his lengthy setback, Arsenal has added him to their shortlist. It is now quite improbable that he will be moved in the summer due to his recovery from the operation. Hartman said Feyenoord had previously stated that, after being prohibited from going in January due to Chelsea’s interest, he might move after the season ended. Arne Slot’s move to Liverpool raises the possibility that he will leave within the next 12 months. With two years remaining on his contract, Hartman was linked to Burnley in August of last year, when there were rumors that he would be let go for as little as £17 million. Despite his setback, his stock is believed to have increased since. Hartman revealed to ESPN earlier this month that Chelsea had been interested in him during the winter, and that attention had continued until his injury. He remarked, “I think they really wanted me, yeah, but I think they don’t want me now.” “Winter break is when it started already. They came to Feyenoord, but I wasn’t particularly interested in it myself at the time. I had just made it onto the Dutch national team, had just broken through, and had started playing everything. And with them came the European Championships. It just wasn’t relevant. Feyenoord made it quite evident as well: we are amenable to it come summertime, but not right now. They [Chelsea] came back and genuinely wanted me for the last several months. Regretfully, the outcome was different. I’m currently residing with Feyenoord, but it probably would have happened in a different way.
