Breaking Story: Las Vegas Raiders Sign a new player as First Undrafted Free Agent for 2024 Season

Carter Bradley, a former quarterback for South Alabama, is the first undrafted free agent signed by the Las Vegas Raiders this summer.

The 2024 NFL Draft is now over, and the Las Vegas Raiders will now focus on the undrafted free-agent market. That’s it.

Carter Bradley, a quarterback from South Alabama, is the team’s first undrafted free agent to be signed in 2024.

While he’s hardly the quarterback that many supporters had hoped the Raiders would select to go up against Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew II in training camp, the addition of Hoyer to the starting lineup provides much-needed depth after veteran quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Brian Hoyer were released by Las Vegas earlier in the offseason.

Bradley already has a connection to the Raiders because his father, Gus Bradley, the current defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, was once the defensive coordinator for the Raiders. The only postseason appearance the Silver and Black have made since 2021 was during Gus Bradley’s tenure as defensive coordinator for the Raiders.

After moving to Toledo, 6-foot-3, 218-pound prospect Carter Bradley spent two seasons with the Jaguars. After starting 11 games and throwing for 2,660 yards and 19 touchdowns, he was chosen an honorable mention for the 2023 Sun Belt All-Sun Belt team.

Carter Bradley set program records for throwing yards (3,326), completions (276), and touchdowns (28) during his debut season as a Jaguar. During the same season, he was also selected for an honorable mention on the All-Sun Belt team.

Carter Bradley received an overall rating of 75.8 from Pro Football Focus for his 2022 campaign.

Lance Zierlein, an NFL analyst, rates Carter Bradley as follows:

“Bradley knows where to take the football and how to execute his offensive scheme well. Although he lacks the accuracy to sit in a pocket and outscore NFL defenders on intermediate and deep throws, he is a smart but unimpressive athlete. To make an NFL team, he could need to work on his footwork and delivery technique.”

The Raiders still have Anthony Brown Jr., a player who spent one season with the Baltimore Ravens and actually started one of his two games, so Carter Bradley won’t be a lock for the third-string slot. He was cut loose by the Ravens in September.

Brown, who played collegiate ball at Oregon, was also an undrafted free agent.
