2023 was a break year for Kansas City Chiefs defender L’Jarius Sneed; he just missed being named to the first and second teams of the All-Pro.
The adaptable DB still seems to be motivated by that lack of acknowledgment. “I’ve had difficulties throughout my entire life,” Need said to reporters on January 18. For me, it has always been this way. I had to prove myself all the time. I’ve always been the underdog. In addition, he remarked that he “still has a point to prove” and that people are “steady sleeping on me.”
Pro Football Focus, an NFL rating website, is one of several that could be “sleeping on” Sneed. PFF awarded the standout defender a 71.1 overall and a 71.9 in coverage over 16 regular-season contests. Not terrible, but Sneed’s performance isn’t fully represented by those figures.
He was the sixth-best player on the Kansas City defense this season, according to their analytics, behind safety Chamarri Conner, linebacker Leo Chenal, cornerback Joshua Williams, defensive tackle Chris Jones, and cornerback Trent McDuffie. Actually, he and Jones have most likely been ranked No. 1 or No. 2.
Later in the press conference, Sneed was questioned by KC media about what he thought of his PFF grade. His response was direct and to the point.
The shutdown corner grinned back and repeated his assessment twice more: “They suck.” He didn’t go into more detail in his reply.

The topic of discussion on January 18th, Pro Football Focus, was prompted by J.J. Watt’s visit to the Pat McAfee Show.
Watt told McAfee and company, “[PFF] comes from a very high and mighty place, and they speak like they know everything there is to know about football.” And they inform all of these athletes and coaches that they are so much better, wiser, and have these really superior methods of solving problems.
“As someone who’s been there, who understands what it’s like to have someone tell you how good you’re doing—I mean, I’ve actually sat in a meeting room with coaches and put the grades side by side,” the speaker continues. I’ve done it from both a coach’s and a PFF grade, and it’s not even close.

Reid said, paraphrasing Watt, “And people swear by PFF. đŸ˜‚ I love that he said this.” PFF is helpful for analytics and data related to targets, formation alignments, and those targets’ percentages. “Grades” đŸ˜‚ they have no idea what the real obligations and duties entail. In addition, I happen to have really good grades inside our building. I don’t give a damn about PFF. Dispute with a wall.
NFL players don’t seem to think highly of Pro Football Focus or their grading system, as you can see.
L’Jarius Sneed of the Chiefs might shadow Stefon Diggs against the Bills in the divisional round.
Sneed is preparing for his anticipated showdown with outstanding wide receiver Stefon Diggs as the Chiefs get set to take on the Buffalo Bills once again.
“He’s an excellent receiver. Astute. Fantastic route runner and diligent worker, Sneed described Diggs to reporters. He has been one of the league’s best receivers because of this.
The CB went on to say that Diggs loves to speak trash during games, but he also admitted that he finds it enjoyable.
Sneed defeated Diggs in the Chiefs-Bills game that took place this season.
“On 24 routes (or nearly 65% of the time) in Week 14, Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed lined up against Bills WR Stefon Diggs,” A-to-Z Sports KC media member Charles Goldman said on X. “He gave up one three-yard catch. The last three 21-yard catches by Diggs were made against different KC defenders.
All season long, Sneed has been putting pressure on opponent WR1. On Sunday night, we’ll see whether he can repeat the feat against Buffalo.
