Reason why the Detroit Lions announced a plethora of roster moves over…

Outside linebacker Bruce Irvin and defensive tackle Tyson Alualu are being promoted from the practice squad by Detroit.

Additionally, cornerback Chase Lucas has returned to the practice squad after clearing waivers, and tight end Anthony Firkser has been added to the active roster.

Alualu will be making his Lions debut. Irvin has committed to three games, which is the maximum number of games that practice squad players can play. Irvin, 36, has played 24 snaps total and has one sack and four pressures recorded.

Irvin has reached his maximum number of elevations, so the Lions will need to choose whether to bring him onto the active roster.

With defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna, who was eventually signed by the Tennessee Titans off the Lions practice squad, Detroit faced a similar situation earlier this season.

Alualu, on the other hand, will debut in the 2023 season. His fourteenth NFL season is about to begin. Alualu has tallied 25 sacks and 46 tackles for loss in his professional career.

His arrival gives a defensive line that is still without Alim McNeill—who is on injured reserve—more depth. McNeill, who travelled to Dallas for the game on Saturday with the team, is permitted to return the following week.

With Brock Wright out for the second straight game, Firkser provides the team with another tight end option. Sam LaPorta has been the Lions’ go-to guy at this position because James Mitchell hasn’t recorded a catch in 13 games this year.

The Lions will have the chance to see how they compare to one of the top NFC teams this Saturday. For coach Dan Campbell, who spent three years as a player with the Cowboys and was raised in Texas, it will also mark a return to his hometown.

Following his public acclaim earlier in the week from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Campbell paid the owner back by praising his interactions with him.

“See, he’s always present these days. He attends all practices and meetings; he is always present,” Campbell remarked. “Clearly quite involved. He shares everyone’s desire to win.

He was fully aware of all the players and your background, as well as the plans for that week. I won’t, however, give you just one story. I can assure you that he is a conscientious owner.”
