Whether the Bears decide to retain Justin Fields or cut him loose is undoubtedly one of the biggest decisions they will have to make this offseason.
That choice will be made. You can be sure that the Bears will hold off on making that choice until after the season.
In a Tuesday interview with ESPN 1000, Matt Eberflus stated, “The decisions haven’t been made and those are waiting until the end of the year when everything is finalised.” “Atlanta is once more in our sights. This week, we have a significant test against Atlanta.
At the end of the season, Eberflus and Ryan Poles will have a meeting with each player. They will assign a grade based on their performance and determine how they feel about other building departments.
It should not be shocking to learn this. During the season, the Bears don’t make many big decisions. Recall that they have never let go of a head coach during a game. Why should they decide on that right now? Fields has two more games left to add more accomplishments to his resume.
Furthermore, Fields’ future is not Eberflus’ to decide. Kevin Warren and Ryan Poles will decide that. Though the guys upstairs will ultimately make that decision, the head coach has a say. Still, with two games remaining, that choice will obviously not be made.
“When the season is over, we’ll cross that bridge. We’ll examine each of those items, just as we do each year. We’ll assess every aspect of the programme, from A to Z,” Eberflus stated.
After this season, Fields has given the Bears a lot to consider.
With the Bears, Fields has made 36 starts and demonstrated a lot. However, he has also demonstrated that he still has a ways to go before being regarded as an elite quarterback. His ability to rush and make plays is practically proven. His passing skills, however, still need improvement.
