much though the 2024 NFL season is still a few months away, the revelation of the schedule has made the wait much more unbearable. Unbelievably, as of the 2024 season, over one-third of the NFL had never won a Super Bowl. The Cincinnati Bengals’ Super Bowl loss to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021–22 was the closest we’ve gone in years to removing another team from that list. When the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl during their incredible postseason run in 2017–18, that team was the final to check off the list. At the start of the 2024 NFL season, which NFL teams have still never won a Super Bowl? Which NFL teams are without a Super Bowl victory? Cardinals of Arizona After a difficult season in 2023, Jonathan Gannon and the Cardinals seem ready for a far more competitive 2024. The Cardinals will feel hopeful with the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr. and several other top draft picks from this class, but they are still a long way from being a Super Bowl contender. Falcons of Atlanta The Atlanta Falcons have made significant efforts to emerge as strong contenders this season, if not for the NFC South title. They spent heavily in young offensive talent, and they signed Kirk Cousins to a huge free agent contract, hoping he would help them elevate it all. As you might think, Cousins was not overly pleased with his selection of Michael Penix Jr. in the draft, and the Falcons defence doesn’t seem to be ready for the Super Bowl at this point. The Buffalo Bills For the past few years, the Buffalo Bills have been serious Super Bowl candidates, but it seems like they’ve missed a crucial window. Even with Josh Allen’s potential, this team is in the process of rebuilding and does not appear to be a Super Bowl contender in 2024. Panthers of Carolina Out of all the teams on this list, the Carolina Panthers might be the most removed from Super Bowl contention. They had the poorest record in the NFL the previous season, and at this point, all they can hope for is that Bryce Young, the former first overall choice, can develop into a franchise quarterback. Bengals of Cincinnati The Bengals are a formidable team in the AFC if Joe Burrow can maintain his health. They have realistic expectations of making it to the NFL Final Four in 2024, but Burrow’s availability and health have fluctuated since he entered the league. They might be a contender should Burrow continue to play. Browns of Cleveland On paper, the Browns’ defence is worthy of a title; they won 11 games in the previous campaign. This club just seems to be depending too much on Deshaun Watson playing like the player we haven’t seen in five years. Lions of Detroit I believe the Detroit Lions have the highest chance of any NFL team to break their Super Bowl drought in 2024, even better than the Bengals. Since Dan Campbell became head coach of the Lions, the squad has become one of the most popular teams in the world. They have excellent coaching, are deep, and are elite in the trenches. The Houston Texans The Houston Texans are likely to be everyone’s favourite flavour heading into the 2024 season as a surprise title contender, following somewhat of an unexpected breakout year in 2023. The Texans have a quarterback capable of competing well into January against someone like Patrick Mahomes. DeMeco Ryans is skilled at playing defence, and he now has even better player personnel to deal with when it comes to that side of the ball. Jacksonville Jaguars Under Doug Pederson, the Jaguars advanced ten steps in 2022 but regressed five steps in 2023. This team’s future is seriously doubtful after its collapse in the latter half of the previous campaign. Regretfully, Trevor Lawrence is included in those inquiries. The Jaguars aren’t currently in my opinion serious Super Bowl contenders. Chargers of Los Angeles Whether they play in the NFL or at the collegiate level, Jim Harbaugh’s teams are always competitive and relevant in the postseason. The irresistible force that is Harbaugh will square off against the immovable object that is the Los Angeles Chargers’ infamous past. Although it will take some time, don’t be shocked if it takes only a few months. Minnesota Vikings Right now, the Minnesota Vikings are almost the NFL’s Chicago Cubs (before the World Series, of course). The Vikings are incapable of ever being superior to good. With JJ McCarthy selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, this team will have to start over after perhaps missing a window with Kirk Cousins for the previous six years.
