Breaking News: Updates on Brooks Lee’s Injury…

With the way things have gone so far this season, the Minnesota Twins had a stellar day on the injury front on Tuesday.

Royce Lewis was possibly the most significant of the six important players Minnesota lost in the first month of the season. While everyone else appears to be making progress toward recovery, he stays out for at least another month.

On Monday, Carlos Correa made his comeback to the field, along with Caleb Thielbar and Max Kepler. On Tuesday, the Twins activated their great closer, Jhoan Duran.

Along with the wonderful news about Duran’s comeback, Twins fans received a very encouraging update on top prospect Brooks Lee.

It appears that Brooks Lee could soon return to the Twins lineup.

After being placed on the injured list early in the season due to back spasms, Lee became one of many important players to miss time. Later on, it was discovered that he had a herniated disk in his back and that his comeback schedule was completely off.

But things do appear to be improving.

While speaking with the guys from SKOR North, Darren Wolfson of KTSP provided an update on Lee, and it’s all positive stuff.

“He is striking, fielding some balls, and catching lightning.” [Tuesday is when he will begin running,” Wolson stated. “He should begin participating in rehabilitation games on May 15th, probably in Fort Myers, if all goes according to plan. Although the Twins are clearly taking it carefully with him, as of yesterday, his back felt almost 100% normal.”

Feelings are really high among Twins fans, and this is just the most recent “pinch me” incident. Positive momentum is now accumulating around Lee as a club that seemed dangerously underrated. 500 has gone on an eight-game winning run, and an offense that was historically awful has unexpectedly come to life.

The timing of his injury could not have been more unfortunate. Lee most likely would have been called up after Lewis was placed on the injured list if he had not been struggling with a herniated disk. Had he not been called up at that time, he most likely would have filled in for Carlos Correa or Max Kepler when they were placed on the injured list.

This most recent development could get him back on track to be called up prior to Lewis’s comeback. The Twins’ great third baseman might not return until near the All-Great Break, and there won’t be any pressure to have him back before he’s ready.

Once Lee is well, he may fill that void, which has ultimately resulted in a situation where the rich get richer. The Twins may find themselves in a situation where Lewis, Miranda, and Lee are stuck together—a terrific dilemma for the team to have. Jose Miranda has turned back the clock to appear more like the player he was in 2022.
