Chicago The Twins are as healthy as they have been all season, and several of those returnees showed off their strength as they extended their winning streak to nine games.
Trevor Larnach, Max Kepler, and Carlos Correa—all lately back from the injured list—were the Twins’ big swingers when Minnesota needed late runs. The Twins’ 6-5 victory over the White Sox on Tuesday was finally sealed by the recently healed Jhoan Duran, who was the biggest addition of all. The day was chaotic for the pitching staff.
The Twins now own the longest winning streak in the Major Leagues thanks to Duran’s save in his season debut. The team hasn’t had this kind of run since winning 10 games in a row in 2008. The Twins’ current winning streak is nine games strong.
Jhoan Duran secures the victory and save. The Twins had to surge ahead in each of the last two innings to secure the victory, much like they did in Monday night’s game. However, as has been the case all week, the clutch swings eventually materialized.
After returning from the injured list with an intercostal strain, Correa hit a two-out RBI single with one out in the eighth inning to level the score for the Twins, who were behind 4-3. Larnach then delivered the game-winning strike, but after Andrew Benintendi’s game-tying blast in the bottom of the frame, the Twins required one more rally. That did exactly occur in the ninth, when Kepler’s game-winning sac fly—his second straight game with the game-winning RBI in the ninth inning—followed a leadoff walk by Byron Buxton and a single by Manuel Margot.
