The Pain of Months Apart from my Son During Touring, Taylor Townsend…

After having her baby Adyn, American tennis player Taylor Townsend had to take it slow when returning to the court. The 28-year-old recently talked about the challenges she encountered adjusting to pursuing her job while taking care of her first child.
Townsend has excelled in some singles competitions in addition to her stellar doubles play. In singles, the 28-year-old Chicago native has ranked as high as 57 in the world, but in doubles, she has broken into the top 10, with a career-best position of World No. 5 in 2023.
Townsend had to get back into shape after giving birth to Adyn two years ago in order to play on the singles and doubles circuits. The American acknowledges that at first, the thought of having to raise her child and do both intimidated her. But time and effective time management have helped her get over her concerns.
Fortunately, Townsend and her coach get along and communicate, she stated on the WTA Insider Podcast. I don’t feel horrible, or I can’t express that if that’s how I’m feeling, because we have that open line of communication. I am aware that this is my work, though. This is my dream, and I’m aware that I’m working hard to achieve it. I am aware that occasionally I have to perform things that cause me a little bit more discomfort.”That’s what I did a lot last year. My son and I were apart for three months. That was quite difficult, and it presented me with a great challenge. However, I’ve already done it and overcome it, so I know I can do it now. Even though I know I can do it, I don’t want to. We make plans, for sure, so I don’t burn out. That seems to demonstrate. I have not sustained any injuries, and I am not covered in tape.”
