Tyrone McKenna Set to End Retirement for Potential Rematch Against Mohamed Mimoune

It appears that Tyrone McKenna’s retirement will not last long.

On August 3, in Belfast, “The Mighty Celt” is expected to trade leather and remove his gloves, if rumors and reports are to be believed.

It is known that a matchup between Mohamed Mimoune, a past opponent of the Golden Contract, and the always entertaining Southpaw is being considered.

There have been rumors that the rematch will be the main attraction at the Conlan Boxing Bill held at SSE Arena.

McKenna had previously faced the French boxer in the semi-finals of the Golden Contract at York Hall.

The Belfast fighter emerged victorious after an exciting 10-round bout in London, winning 96-94, 97-93.

Mimoune contested the win, and it seems the Frenchman living in Florida might have the opportunity to exact retribution in Belfast this summer.

McKenna abruptly left the game in December of last year following a point loss to Lewis Crocker.

“That’s it for the Mighty Celt people,” he declared in his speech at the time.

“I’ve put a lot of effort into this sport and have come a long way from my humble beginnings sleeping on Philadelphia floors. I never imagined becoming a part of some of the amazing nights I experienced. I always accepted the hardest bouts that were thrown at me, even when I didn’t have to, in an effort to become the most entertaining guy in Ireland. Win, lose, or draw, I enjoyed some incredible nights with you all, and I hope I made you all proud. The hardest man in Ireland is the one distinction that nobody will relinquish very soon. I am the only man on this island who can take a shot.

Padraig McCrory against Luke Keeler, Ger Hughes against Rudhan Farrell, and Feargal Quinn against Ashton Brown are reportedly also on Conlan Boxing’s August 3 wish list, according to Boxing Ticket’s NI.
