It’s the baseball team from Alabama’s fifth home loss of the season.
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Tuesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, the No. 18 Alabama Crimson Tide (24-13, 6-9) baseball team lost 5-2 to the UAB Blazers (16-19, 4-8) for the second straight midweek match.
Nick Hollifield’s sacrifice fly and a fielder’s choice in the top of the first inning gave the Blazers the early lead. Gage Miller and Justin Lebron each hit a solo home run to give the Crimson Tide a response in the home half of the inning. The game was deadlocked until the fifth inning, when Brayton Brown of UAB launched a solo home ball into the right field corner to give the Blazers a lead again. Brown then added another run on a wild pitch to extend the lead. Mayes White’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning allowed UAB to score one more run and secure the victory.
Kade Snell, a junior dual threat, began for the Crimson Tide at both designated hitter and pitcher. During his fourth outing of the season, Snell pitched two innings, giving up two hits, two earned runs, and one strikeout. He was 1 of 2 at the plate before Mason Swinney replaced him in the sixth inning as a pinch hitter. From the bullpen, Austin Morris, Jansen Kenty, Coulson Buchanan, and Braylon Myers appeared.
Right-hander Brooks House got the start for UAB in the mound. After pitching one inning, the rookie gave up two earned runs and four hits. From the bullpen, Collin Patterson, Christian Clack, and John Luke Marlin appeared.
