Naomi Osaka appeared uncommitted to tennis prior to her break, so many had their doubts when she declared her comeback.
Many applauded Osaka’s pregnant hiatus when she revealed it, believing it to be a necessary break from competition. She had been having trouble with her tennis for some time and had even acknowledged that she was lacking motivation.
That helps explain why some people don’t think Osaka is sincere about making a comeback. The former world number one appears to be highly motivated, so the first four months of the season offered a pretty good answer. Todd Woodbridge, the former player and current world no. 1 in doubles, is quite impressed by what he witnessed in her outstanding tennis play.
“I think that this is actually one of the most important decisions that she’s made in her career, because it means that she effectively is willing to work and do anything to get herself back to the top of the game.”

“This is a commitment, and it shows me that Naomi is very serious about winning more majors.” She has promised to carry out her comeback in a lawful and proper manner.
Since tennis is a game that is always changing, it can be difficult to pick it up again after a lengthy absence. It may be similar to riding a bike for most players, but that doesn’t mean you can resume playing right away. Everyone is always improving, so losing time is really detrimental.
“Winning matches requires a deliberate choice. It is extremely difficult to suddenly get back into the game after a protracted absence and win significant events. You must obtain match-play. You must believe that you deserve it and that you have earned it.”
“I believe it’s beneficial that she is practicing on clay. You need to be a little bit more patient because you have to hit more balls. It’s beneficial for her level of fitness and match fitness, in my opinion.
