Serena Williams just informed her that she was expecting her daughter Olympia when she won the 2017 Australian Open.

The last time tennis fans saw Serena Williams in action was quite some time ago. Though the American is essentially retired, we might see her perform at an exhibition event in the future.

Her family and business, which have long been her greatest passions, will take center stage in this next chapter of her life. Williams occasionally works in the media as well. In a recent interview, she offered a humorous story about telling her daughter Olympia about the 2017 Australian Open.Olympia, her daughter, started the conversation by inquiring as to why her mother was so well-known. Then Williams told her about the well-known 2017 major championship victory.Yes, Olympia has reached a point in her life where she asks, ‘Listen, why am I so famous?’ “You’re a great tennis player,” she said. So when I told her the other day that she was truly inside my womb when I won a major competition [the 2017 Australian Open], she was taken aback. I can now be a little more open with her now that she’s at a certain age.” Williams speaking with People Magazine

Olympia even picked up a racquet a few times and worked out with Serena, but for the time being at least, it doesn’t appear like she will follow in her mother’s footsteps in the game of tennis.

While some former players encouraged their kids to play tennis, many others said they wouldn’t want their kids to play the game because they understand how hard it is to keep up with the demands of the game every single week.
