NFL Draft Buzz Boosts WWE Ratings as Patrick Mahomes Appears…
The NFL draft is being used by the professional wrestling industry to promote its own TV rosters, in addition to the current excitement around the WNBA draft and Caitlin Clark. Alongside fellow YouTuber and sidekick IShowSpeed, Paul appeared on Monday’s episode of “Raw,” which featured Kansas City Chiefs MVP Patrick Mahomes. The WWE’s two-night draft is currently in its second night. There are stories that move wrestlers between NXT, the promotion’s developmental league, and Raw and SmackDown. Although there is occasional talent crossover between the shows throughout the year, the rosters of the shows remain distinct. Along with wrestlers Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and J.D. McDonagh, Damian Priest, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and his group, the Judgement Day, were also there when Mahomes and Paul interacted. Monday’s main event on Raw was scheduled to feature Judgement Day, and it appeared that Mahomes would be present at ringside. Since he first started competing for WWE, Paul has displayed incredible physical prowess, displaying a natural talent and acting as a popular spokesperson for the company. He presently holds the WWE U.S. Championship while representing the company. With talent hopping between shows, this is also the final major scheduled brand draft before “Raw” moves to Netflix the following year. On occasion, though, talent is transferred between programmes in order to accommodate different plots that run throughout the year. Additionally, Roman Reigns, the former champion who lost his title at this year’s WrestleMania, was explicitly left off the draft by the show; it is unclear if he will play a major role in the Netflix adaptation of the programme.
